Next Innovation Campus building on track

In two weeks, construction fences will go up on the site of the next Nebraska Innovation Campus building — 80,000 square feet under development by Tetrad Property Group.

At first, the fence will encircle an area set aside for activities related to this year’s Cattlemen’s Ball, which begins June 3 in Lincoln and has a dinner that night at Innovation Campus.

Once the tents come down, the fences will remain for the next phase of the research park at the former State Fair Park.

Based on the agreement between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and developer Nebraska Nova, Tetrad must begin work on the next building within 18 months after the latest building at Innovation Campus is occupied.

Since UNL moved its food science department to the Food Innovation Center there last summer, Tetrad began making good on its end of the agreement, hiring Clark Enersen Partners to design the new building to go up north of the Plant Innovation Center.

“We anticipate breaking ground by the end of the year,” said Jennifer Brinkman, Tetrad’s communications manager.
