Nebraska Innovation Campus (NIC) aims to connect the talents of experts, companies and the University of Nebraska to create a unique culture of innovation. As a research campus, NIC is designed to facilitate new and in-depth partnerships between the University and the private sector, align core research strengths with practical and technical expertise and provide more employment opportunities for University of Nebraska graduates in the State. NIC is adjacent to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and strategically provides access to research faculty, facilities and students. When buildout is complete, NIC will be a 2.2 million square foot campus with uniquely designed buildings and amenities that inspire create activity and engagement and transform ideas into global innovation. NIC strives to be the most sustainable research and technology campus in the United States.

Phase One of campus construction involved 380,000 SF of renovation and new construction including renovation of two 100-year-old buildings, new construction of an 80,000 SF Wet Lab, and 65,000 SF of office building. Part of the former 4-H Building has been reconstructed into the NIC Conference Center, a unique full-service conference center providing multi-functional meeting and collaboration space for 400 participants. The first tenants on campus opened their offices in late 2014. Phase Two began in late 2016 with the construction of The Rise at Innovation Campus – an 80,000 SF mixed-use office building designed with an open concept to quickly adapt to future needs.
